Finally my first 2 porcelain bells came home today after the 1300c high firing.
I am so pleased with the outcome!
I love the way how the clay became vitrified hard with translucence and glassy sheen.
My baby on my palm...!
The bodies are glazed and it is too shiny to my liking
but I'd still like to apply thinly or partly on next ones.
The neck and above are not glazed yet have very nice semi-matt sheen,
which is "just right" for me... :)
Maybe not the best shot as taken indoor at night...
It is truly amazing how the same clay changes in the process.
Just with and through the water and fire.
Baked more breads today. Yum!
Kneaded clay on the work table and bread dough on the kitchen table.
My daughter made the small ones. Will take them to work and Kindy tomorrow too.
I also spent quite some time today thinking and making many
different clappers (or tongues) to be suspended inside the bells.
I want to test and see if I can really create a variety of sounds to suit
the personalities of each little persons as I mentioned earlier here. I realise now that I am making musical instruments and it means a lot of testings!
-------------------Now, are you ready for the big news?------------------------
My dear friend A is flying over to stay with me for 10days. She has always modelled for my mother's felt hats which I always photographed. Oh how they look amazing on beautiful A!
My mother had exhibitions for 10years and did very well. All handmade and OOAK.
Now my mother has gone back to japan and claims she is too tired to felt. I have moved away from Sydney. All these wonderful years of taking photographs in the sand dune or mangroves or in my mother's backyard seemed have ended...
I said "Mum, these hats deserve to be out there, seen by more people in the world, specially those with creative minds and styles of their own who'd appreciate your unique sense of aesthetic." I just love what she creates.
We don't have a name for this project yet. My mother now sends her creations to me, I pay for A's flights to fly over here, I do photography and admin jobs - these works will be the new additions on my Etsy shop soon!! All 3 are so so excited about it!
How generous of my dear friend A to take days off from work to be involved in this craziness!
There is actually the 4th person in the project.
My little one - she is 3 and likes dressing up too :)
There is also something so special about having 3 women from the 3 generations doing this together.
Good night. :)
